We source an exceptional collection of wood species from our top-secret location, tucked away more than 10 hours north of our Newland, NC storefront.

Wood Species

For nearly 30 years, we have handcrafted bespoke furniture and statement pieces using a wide variety of wood species, each with its own distinct characteristics and aesthetic appeal.

Walnut

With its rich, dark tones and striking grain patterns, walnut adds a touch of elegance to custom woodwork. It is highly sought after for its natural beauty and lends a warm and luxurious feel to any space.

Maple

Offering a light and smooth appearance, maple is valued for its uniform grain and versatility. It can be finished to showcase its natural pale hue or stained to mimic other wood species.

Reclaimed

Reclaimed wood is typically sourced from old barns, buildings, or salvaged materials, adding a unique and rustic charm to every design. It carries a sense of history and sustainability while showcasing weathered textures and character-filled imperfections.

Oak

Known for its durability and strength, oak is a classic choice for custom woodworking designs. It features prominent grain patterns and can be stained in various shades to match different design preferences.

Cherry

Cherry wood displays a warm reddish-brown color that deepens with age and exposure to light. It has a fine, straight grain and is often chosen for its natural beauty and durability.

Ash

Ash wood offers a light and airy aesthetic, making it suitable for modern and contemporary designs. It is known for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and often features a pale, creamy color with distinct grain patterns.

RECLAIMED MATERIALS

Each furniture piece made with barn wood carries a captivating tale of American heritage.

Over 20 years ago, we began designing and manufacturing barn wood furniture. This line of furniture is made from what is known as reclaimed, recycled, or virgin wood. Perhaps no other native architecture better exemplifies the spirit of the American pioneers than their barns and cabins. These buildings, built with heavy timbers harvested from the virgin forest, were hewn to size by hand with the ancient broadax and adz.

We believe in the American Craftsman and designing unique pieces that bring history and heritage to your home.

FIGURED MATERIALS

Figured wood guarantees a truly custom design, unlike anything your friends have.

Figured wood refers to wood materials that exhibit unique and visually appealing grain patterns or irregularities that deviate from the typical straight or uniform grain found in regular lumber. These distinctive patterns can take various forms, such as curls, waves, quilting, spalting, burl, bird's eye, or tiger stripes, among others.

FUN FACT: The degree of ‘bubbling’ on the edge of a wooden slab indicates how uniquely figured the grain pattern will be.

Care & Maintenance

Properly caring for your handcrafted wood furniture is essential to maintaining its beauty and longevity. Here are some tips to help you care for your cherished pieces:

  • Regularly dust your wooden furniture using a soft, lint-free cloth or a microfiber duster to remove any surface dust or dirt. Avoid using rough materials that may scratch the wood.

  • Protect your furniture from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can cause fading and damage the wood over time. Use curtains, blinds, or UV-protective window films to minimize sun exposure.

  • All wood is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity, which can cause it to expand or contract. Keep your furniture away from direct heat sources, radiators, and air conditioning vents. Use a humidifier or dehumidifier to maintain a stable humidity level in the room. It is normal to see minor cracks appear seasonally.

  • Accidental spills should be cleaned immediately to prevent staining or warping. Blot the spill gently with a clean, absorbent cloth, and avoid rubbing or scrubbing vigorously. For tough stains, use a mild solution of dish soap and water, applying it sparingly and wiping it dry immediately.

  • Periodically polish your wooden furniture to restore its natural luster and protect the finish. Use a high-quality furniture polish or wax specifically designed for wood. Apply the polish following the manufacturer's instructions, and buff it gently with a soft cloth to achieve a beautiful sheen.

  • Steer clear of harsh cleaning products, solvents, or abrasive materials that can damage the wood's finish. Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners or natural solutions when necessary.

  • To prevent scratches and heat damage, use coasters, trivets, and protective pads under hot dishes, glasses, or heavy objects placed on the furniture.

  • Routinely inspect your furniture for any signs of wear, loose joints, or damage. Address any issues promptly to prevent further deterioration and ensure proper maintenance.
